ABOUT NIGEL
Nigel was born in Worcester in 1941. He developed a love for painting with encouragement from his art teacher whilst living in Pershore.
Many years on and now living in Stoke Lacy with his wife, Daphne, he devotes most of his time painting interspersed with sessions in the pottery, his other great interest.
Working in oils and watercolour he strives to capture the beauty of the Herefordshire countryside.
Nigels pottery is mainly thrown on the wheel using white earthenware clays. A number of decorating techniques are employed but possibly the most popular is 'marbling'. To achieve this effect various coloured slips are applied to the unfired piece and swirled together to create subtle patterns.
He also works in locally dug clay which produces a good quality terracotta ware.
Regular exhibitions are held at the home and studios of Nigel and Daphne and anyone can try their hand on the wheel (with a little help maybe!)
He likes nothing better than seeing the excitement that people get as they see their work magically evolving.
